'My work explores two main themes, both inspired
by Nature. The first theme draws on my long -term love of gardening
and plants that has led
me to paint gardens and flowers in pastel. I have visited many gardens
both locally and as far afield as Monet’s garden in Giverney. I
enjoy looking at the wider garden landscape, focussing on groups of plants
and individual flowers.
The second theme that informs my work is my local environment that offers
shell beaches, beach huts and wide open skies. I also enjoy portraiture.
I love to play with colour and exaggerate and experiment with it.
I have been painting and exhibiting since 1996 when I graduated with
a Degree in Art and Design from Suffolk College. I have held solo exhibitions
in Brentwood, Essex as well as Mersea and Colchester. Most recently (Feb.
2001) at the Digby Gallery in Colchester.
