Gerry Wilmers large-scale oil and acrylic paintings have a presence and impact of their own on our senses. We can almost convince ourselves that we are walking through undergrowth, or reaching out to smell the scent of the flowers in her paintings. This is not because of ultra-realism. Rather, the monumental scale of her semi-figurative work places us in contact with familiar images that are life size or much larger than life.

Gerry Wilmer has a panache for the fantastical and in many of her paintings we view nature through the eyes of some imaginary Diva. Colour is inspired from her travels to exotic places and through this we see British fauna and flora ablaze with colour, pattern, texture and shape in an Impressionistic style.
