The current work UK artist Alf Friend is showing in Studio 10 highlights his masterful use of mixed-media. The wall hanging assemblages created with wood, metal, plaster and acrylic paint are rich in meaning and symbolism. This gives rise to a form of imagery that pays attention to detail and delivers colour, texture and pattern in a careful and clear format.

Alf Friends wallhangings work on the mind as well as the eye. They are thought provoking and prompt conversation. This idiom is very contemporary and adds a subtle depth to the artists work that is more than just visual.

Although his present Yohaku series of wallhanging assemblages show strong Far Eastern influence this is not a restrictive process. The artist is happy to discuss any range and type of subject for commission. At present the pieces take between one to three months to complete depending on size. The current price guide of between £100 to £500 for commissions makes the artists work very accessible and suitable for home or office environments.
